CARDBOARD
Types of Cardboard Material
Cardboard is one of the best packaging materials that has been used for packaging for more than a decade. There are four types of cardboard material. For your better understanding let’s discuss them.
1. Corrugated Cardboard
Corrugated cardboard is one of the most durable materials. This material offers a unique construction of a fluted layer sandwiched between two flat layers. It is mostly used to make shipping boxes. This material is mostly preferred by businesses that require them to ship their products daily. By placing your products inside these boxes you can be rest assured that your products reach your customer’s doorstep safely.
2. Solid Bleached Sulfate (SBS)
This material offers a smooth and bright surface. SBS is preferred for businesses that require high-end printing on their boxes. It offers a smooth surface on which you can do anything that you desire. In addition, it is suitable for all finishing options such as embossing, debossing, matt finish, and more. It offers great strength because it is made from virgin wood pulp.
3. Solid Unbleached Surface (SUS)
Solid unbleached board (SUB) is a type of paperboard made primarily from unbleached chemical pulp. It typically has 2-3 layers of mineral. SUB also has a synthetic pigment coating on the top. And one layer on the reverse side. SUB is known for its durability, strength, and smooth printable surface, making it suitable for packaging applications such as food, beverages, consumer electronics, and more.
4. Chipboard
Chipboard is a type of cardboard that is made up of recycled material such as wood waste, and paper. It is similar to cardboard but without the corrugated layers. Chipboard comes in various thicknesses. So, it’s entirely up to you which one you want to go for. Furthermore, this type of cardboard material is preferred by brands who want to promote sustainability at an affordable cost.
